Josiah Turns 2 next Week!

October 29, 2010

Dear everyone,

Happy Inspiration Friday! I love October. I’m so sad that it’s going to be over in only a few more days (which means you only have until Sunday to take advantage of the donation deal!). I promised only happy stories for the month of October and so on that note , I have a really happy update for you all – Josiah turns two next week(!) and as of a few days ago, his tumor is stable (he’s in post-chemo right now)! His parents are having a party at a Park tomorrow. Do you live in Memphis? I’m pretty sure anyone can attend if you’re looking to make new friends 😉 (they have a PDF invitation on their blog!).

I would love to be able to say that the tumor is completely gone, but as anyone who has battled cancer knows, you have to celebrate all the triumphs and successes in the journey of fighting this disease and this two-year birthday is a huge milestone for Josiah who was only 6 months old when he was diagnosed.

If you’re going to attend the party, the parents ask one thing: Please make a donation to St. Jude’s. They said, “As much as he would want them, please refrain from bringing Josiah any more toys. Our apartment is going to explode. Besides, Josiah would rather you donate to St. Jude in his honor.”

Isn’t that happy?!?! I think so!

On a final Inspiration Friday note – we’re having a REFERRAL DEAL! If you tell someone about this blog and/or they make a donation, tell them to write YOUR NAME in the “Send a message [to me]” section of the donation page (this is where people usually write things like “Go Elena!” or “Keep it up!”).  Anyway … tell them to put your name there and I’ll put your name into the Marathon or Bust raffle for EACH DONATION received based on your referral. Tell them to pass it forward and then they can increase their chances too!

I’m feeling like it’s going to be a good weekend (even with 9 Miles tonight and 18 Miles on Sunday!) Oh – and my 18 Miles? That’s my gift to Josiah! …
