7:30 AM – 3 Miles Complete

September 21, 2010

Good morning everybody! I’m still a little achy from the Half so I was a little nervous to do my 3 miles this morning, but I just got back not too long ago and it feels good that I got it done. It’s starting to get a little chilly in the morning now that the Fall is rolling around. When a breeze came through at the 2 mile Mark (which gave me goosebumps), I started to think a little about the Marathon in December. The temps in Memphis are supposed to be 40-60’s at the time, but with my luck, I’m certain it’ll probably snow. Now that I think about it, I wonder if anyone has ever really run a marathon when it was snowing? Anyway …

I have to run 6 miles tomorrow in the morning and then another 3 on Thursday before rounding out some more Half-Marathon miles on Saturday (13). Part of me was hoping to find a local Half-Marathon so that I could get another medal for a long run. Is that bad? ha! I like the running medals, what can I say? Unfortunately, my search within 20 miles yielded no results.

As for fund-raising, on my run this morning my mind also started to wander along the path of “Maybe I should lower my goal?” I’m excited to be over $2k, but I’m definitely farther behind than I anticipated (I though I’d be at about $4k or $5k now but that also included better fund-raising during the Nation’s Tri [which I didn’t do at all since it rained] and The Philly Half [which only received about 10 minutes of fund-raising attention]). The Happy Hour is coming up next Friday so I’m going to focus on the flyers this week, hand them out over the weekend and early next week and then re-assess my goal mid-October. There’s still the Marine Corps Marathon on Halloween and I’ll be running a Half in South Carolina, so there’s two more BIG opportunities in October to get the word out about Marathon or Bust (those two events are prime for the “Temp Tattoos for a donation” campaign). Outside of that, I have a few more tricks up my sleeve including a Stella & Dot Party and camping outside a grocery store on a Saturday, so all hope is not lost (though, I’m mildly teetering at the moment on the borderline of “To lower my goal?” or “Not to lower my goal?” – that is the question).

Have a productive Tuesday y’all, with a great run if that’s your thing!
